Be a Blessing

Personally, I love to share my gifts with others.  God has blessed me with gifts and talents that I feel compelled to share. I love to do things for others when I know that they are hurting and need encouragement, or just when they aren't expecting it.  It's never much, just something small that I have taken the time to make.  It might even be something as small and simple as a hand crafted card with a small note inside! Doing this is something that I have found to be very rewarding, and a way that I connect with and serve God.  I have often thought to myself:

"Why don't more people do this?"

In an attempt to get more people to do this, I would like to propose a movement of giving.  A movement of selflessly giving small, heartfelt gifts to those around us to remind them that they are not alone in the world, and that they matter- to you AND to Jesus.

Beyond that, I would like to propose this as a ministry.  Ministering to others is as simple as showing them that as a Christian, you are committed to showing Jesus' love by loving everyone, showing compassion to those who are hurting, and engaging in selfless caring.  These are ideals that Jesus talked about in the Gospel, that you can embody through the use of the sharing of your God given gifts- big or small!

Be a blessing to others!

Maybe you are good a drawing, writing, painting, sculpting, sewing, playing music, singing, baking, or cooking.  Maybe it is something I didn't list. Whatever it is, put it to good use. As it says in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven". If God gave it to you, put it to use for Him!  He gave it to you for a purpose.  Do something for His glory with it!

Here is my challenge for you:

Make something for someone other than yourself.
Make something for someone who could use a pick-me-up.
Make something for someone you need to apologize to.
Make something for someone you should thank for something.
Make something for someone who you know is lonely.
Make something for someone you know is dealing with something hard.
Make something for someone who would never expect it.
Make something for the homeless.
Make something for your elderly neighbor or local nursing home resident.

When you do this, don't be shy to share it with the world and attribute the good work to God using the hashtag...

... on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Vine, or YouTube!
Show the world your faith and commitment to showing God's love and glory to the world.

This is my challenge to you as readers! I hope that many of the DIY tutorials presented on my blog will serve as inspiration for this movement.

I will periodically post more specific challenges in addition to my DIY Tutorials... so keep your eyes open for those and their additional hashtags!
